How much government funding does the school receive?

Our school is 100% privately funded and it receives no funding from the government of Ontario.  We rely on tuition and generous donations for school operations.

What if we cannot afford private education?

We are committed to bringing classical Christian education to as many families as possible, and we understand that the financial component is a very real concern to parents interested in private education and is one of the most common objections. Please consider that enrolling your children in private Christian Education is a step of faith. You are taking the step of actively obeying the commandment given in Deuteronomy 6:4-9 to teach the ways of the Lord to your children in all of life, understanding that the command encompasses school as well. We are told by our Lord Jesus to “seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33). So, make the informative years of your child(ren) a priority in the life of your family.

The Lord may give you a raise, he may call you to slightly change your lifestyle, or he may show you how to save in other certain aspects of your budget. But one thing is certain, in obeying the Lord’s command for your children you will be spending your money in a way that lays up your treasures in heaven. (Matthew 6:19-21)

We also understand that, for some families, it is a financial impossibility to send their child(ren) and our hope is that financial tuition assistance will be available. Our desire is that through the generosity of the local church and men and women who understand the vision of King Alfred Academy, affordability will never be the reason a student cannot attend our school.

Please see our page titled, “Admissions” and contact rfrey@kingalfred.ca for tuition assistance information.

    Who runs King Alfred Academy?

Do we need to attend any particular church to enroll our child(ren) in King Alfred Academy?

No! The school is open to any families who are an active part of an evangelical church, who have a parent(s) who confess faith in Jesus as their saviour and Lord and who desire to provide their children with a classical Christian education.

More information is provided in our Enrollment Package.

What is King Alfred Academy’s position on homeschooling?

Our desire is that all children of Trinity Bible Chapel and the surrounding Christian communities are given the opportunity to have Christ-centred education whether in school or at home.  We recognize and encourage all families who have been called to homeschool their children and want to continue to support them in their endeavors. We know that Trinity Bible Chapel is filled with faithful parents who homeschool, and we want those parents to continue to do so!

What grades are offered at King Alfred Academy?

Will students be required to wear uniforms?

Is KAA a member of any school associations?

Currently our school is an affiliate of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS) located in the United States.  Their website can be found here: https://classicalchristian.org.  Our board is exploring Canadian associations for membership.

What if my child(ren) are already in the upper elementary grades?

Many families have come and asked me about the feasibility of putting their children into grades 6, 7 or 8. They see the excellence and the goodness of the pedagogy but are worried about only getting the tail end of the program.

Coming into a classical school in the later years will require diligence and hard work but it can be done successfully. The feedback we have gotten from our upper grade families have been glowing. One family went as far to say that their student came home and said that he learned more in the first 3 months of King Alfred Academy then the entire previous school year. Even one year of excellent education taught through an explicitly Christian worldview will be extremely beneficial to any child. We love showing, even older students, the goodness of the classical Christian model and hope you will consider partnering with us toward this end.
